DETTINGEN AN DER ILLER

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Biberach

Official blazon

In gespaltenem Schild vorne in Gold ein roter Löwe, hinten in Rot ein goldener Wellenpfahl.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 25, 1974.

The red lion is taken from the arms of the Rechberg family and Estate, to which the village belonged from 1326-1790. The golden wavy pale symbolises the Iller river. Previously the village used an unofficial red shield with in the base four rows of tiles. These arms may have been derived from the arms of Bayern, as part of the village in the early 20th century belonged to Bayern.
