Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 10, 1994.

The wheel is taken from the arms of the State of Mainz, as the area historically belonged to Mainz. The cross refers to the local cross, a 15 m high monument erected in 1935. The base shows the local castle from the Von Hagen zu Deuna family.
