Barry wavy azure and argent, cape sable; on a chief or, the lion of St Mark guardant beyween two cross crosslets all gules.
Origin/meaning
The Waves alludes to the River Nile and the Cape to the Pyramids, main features of Egypt. The Lion of St Mark symbolize that according to tradition St Mark brought Christianity to Egypt.
The Diocese is part of the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East, together with the dioceses of Jerusalem, Cyprus and the Gulf; and Iran. Literature:
