Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 18, 1955.

Ebelsbach did not have arms prior to 1955. In 1954 an old seal of the Ebelsbach court was found in the state archives of Würzburg, which inspired the local council to adopt new arms for the municipality, based on this seal. The seal probably dates from 1551, and can be found on documents dating from 1585 and 1588.

The wavy bar in the arms is canting, Bach meaning brook or creek. The meaning of the trees is unknown, but it has been speculated that the trees symbolise the two forested hills on each side of the brook; the Schönberg and the Ebelsberg. As no historical colours were known, the colours were chosen arbitrarily.
