EIBELSTADT

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Würzburg (until 1973 Ochsenfurt)

Wappen von Eibelstadt/Arms (crest) of Eibelstadt
Official blazon
German In Gold ein halber, golden gekrönter und rot bewehrter schwarzer Löwe, der eine rund gebogene, nach links offene grüne Weinrebe mit Blättern und einer blauen Traube in den Pranken hält.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1434 by Emperor Sigismund. The arms appear on the local seals shortly afterwards and have not changed since in composition.

The vine tree symbolises the importance of viticulture in the area. The lion most likely is the lion of Bohemia (as the Emperor was also King of Bohemia), but the colours have been changed (bohemia is silver in red).
