Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 23, 1988.

The pine-tree is symbolizing the forests on the municipalities hilltops. The number of the ears of grain is that one of the five settlements forming the municipality. The mountain is symbolizing various volcanic eruptions, from which the municipality suffered in the past. The torrent is symbolizing the riches of clear water and the well, collecting the waters from the local creeks like a water-tank gave the municipality its name (span.:tanque). Up to today the well is situated in the municipalities region of La Hoya.
