Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the oldest known seal of the town, dating from 1525, and were officially granted in 1953. The arms are canting, showing a boar (Eber) above a stream (Bach). The blue and gold colours are taken from the arms of the Princes of Oranje-Nassau, who ruled the town for a long time.
