Official blazon
German In Gold aus blauen Wellen wachsend ein rot gekrönter schwarzer Adler.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The oldest seal of the town dates from the 14th century and already shows the eagle rising from a wavy lower half of the shield. Later seals from the 16th and 17th century show the same composition.
The eagle is the Imperial Eagle, as the town for a long time belonged to an imperial estate. The lower half is canting, the name is derived from Fluss, or river.

In the 18th century the crown and waves were removed and the arms showed only an eagle. This remained until the end of the 19th century when the old arms were restored.
