Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 21, 1998.

The central castle refers to the castles of Peratallada and Vulpellac, and the surrounding emblems stand for each of the founder villages: the lion is taken from the arms of the barons of Peratallada (note also the baron crown at the top), the heraldic fountain above the castle stands for Fonteta (it's a canting element: a Catalan "fonteta" is a small fountain), and the flowery mount with two creeks inside is taken from the arms of the Sarriera family (also canting: "sa riera" is "the creek"), the landlords of Vulpellac.
