Wappen von Freyenstein/Arms (crest) of Freyenstein
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms show St. Mary and Jesus and this composition already was used in the early 19th century. The composition refers to the local church, of which St. Mary is the patron saint. Even though a very religious composition, the arms were still used during DDR times.

In the late 1980s the city adopted new arms in which the old arms were reduced to an inescutcheon.

Wappen von Freyenstein/Arms (crest) of Freyenstein

The old arms were placed on a divided shield showing the Freyenstein Castle as well as symbols for agriculture. These arms were not officially granted and not continued after the merger .
