Wappen von Gangkofen

Official blazon

Unter dreimal von Silber und Blau schräg geteiltem Schildhaupt in Schwarz drei, zwei zu eins gestellte, silberne heraldische Lilien.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 18, 1450 by Duke Ludwig the Rich from Niederbayern-Landshut. The chief is derived from the arms of the Wittelsbach family (see the arms of Bayern). The meaning of the fleur-de-lis is not known. It has been stated that these are the symbol for the local chapter of the Teutonic Order.

The arms have not really changed, except that the chief is also often shown with the whole diamonds of the Wittelsbach family.
