Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 16, 1967.

In 1296 the Seligenstadt Abbey acquired the villages of Hofstädten, Geiselbach and Omersbach from the Archbishop of Mainz. These three villages then formed the "Dreidörfervogtei" (three-village area) of the semi-independent territory of the Abbey. The abbey ruled the are until 1802. The arms show the letter A taken from the arms of the Abbey with three stars representing the three villages. The colours are those of the State of Mainz.
