Official blazon

  • (1819) Zijnde een blaauw schild beladen met een burg verzeld ter wederzijde van een lelie, alles van goud.

The arms were officially granted on September 15, 1819 and again on September 29, 1838 and April 30, 1999.

The arms show the local castle. The fleur-de-lys were added after the stay of the French crownprince Louis (later King Louis XI) from 1456-1461. The arms already appear on the 15th century seals of the city.
