GETA

Region : Åland (Ahvenanmaa)
Former province : Åland

Geta Kuntavaakuna / Kommunvapen

Official blazon

  • (se) I blått fält en upprest bock av guld.
  • (fi) Sinisessä kentässä pystyyn kavahtanut kultapukki.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on December 19, 1951.

The arms are canting, showing a goat (get in Swedish). The island, which was rather barren, probably got it's name as no other animals as goats could live there.
