Origin/meaning
In the eighteenth century, Gimel had a communal seal with seated twins, legs crossed. The twins are probably a canting element for the old Latin name of the village Villa Gemella (Villa of the twins). The composition was also already on the sign of the hostel Aux Jumeaux in 1821.
The current arms were adopted in 1921, with the colours of Romainmôtier, to which the primitive chapel mentioned in 1139 belonged, which later became parish the church.
