GRÄFENTHAL

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Saalfeld-Rudolstadt

Grafenth.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 7, 1477.

The arms were granted by Konrad von Pappenheim and show in the upper part the female Moor, which was used on the arms of the counts of Pappenheim. The lower part shows the lion of the arms of the Counts of Orlamünde, who ruled the city before the Pappenheim dynasty (which ruled from 1438-1621).
