GRAVELOTTE

Département : Moselle

Blason de Gravelotte/Arms (crest) of Gravelotte
Official blazon
French De gueules à trois besants d'or, le premier chargé d'une ombre de croisette pattée; au chef d'argent chargé de trois coquilles de sable.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The three golden balls refer to the Val de Metz, the region in which the village is situated. The three scallops are taken from the arms of the Uh family, to whom the village historically belonged. The red colour also refers to the battles fought here in 1870.
