Origin/meaning
The arms were officially registered in 1957.
The arms show in the upper right part a typical canting tool (greb), used by the local farmers as a village symbol, for example for branding cattle. The three wells are canting for Kildebrønde (brønde=well). The wavy base symbolises the position on the Køge Bay.
Before the arms were granted there were two other designs, with partly the same composition as the arms above:

The left image has the same elements as the arms as were granted. The right arms has four roses, one for each of the four villages in the municipality, and the division line is now symbolised by the river flowing into the bay. When the first proposal was made, the state herald rejected both the tool and the wells, as they were not really canting, the names of the villages had historically nothing to do with the items shown. The municipality would like to keep the tool, and thus came up with the second proposal. After a long discussion the old symbols were accepted and the arms were granted.
