GUIMERÀ
Region : Catalonia
Province : Lleida
Official blazon
Escut caironat: d'argent, un mig vol abaixat de gules acostat de 2 pinyes de sinople. Per timbre una corona de comte.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 18, 1991.
This town was the centre of a barony. In 1359 was conceded to Francesc Alemany, and later it passed to the Castre-Pinós family, that in 1599 were promoted to counts. The arms show the count's crown at the top, and two canting elements taken from the arms of the landlords: the wing Gules on Argent("ala" in Catalan) from the arms of the Alemanys, and two pine-cones taken from the arms of the Pinós family.
