GUNNINGEN

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Tuttlingen

Gunninge.jpg

Official blazon

In Blau ein schräggestellter silberner Karpfen.

Origin/meaning

Before 1925 the village used a seal with a single cross, probably derived from the cross of St. George, patron saint of the St. Georgen abbey, which historically had many possessions in the village. A second seal showed only the deer antlers of Württemberg.

In 1925 the present arms were designed by the State Archives and are based on the fact that part of the municipality belonged in medievan times to the Karpfen Estate. The arms thus show a canting carp (Karpfen).
