Origin/meaning

The cross is the cross of the State of Trier, to which the village historically belonged. The lion is the lion of the Counts of Katzenelnbogen, who ruled the other half of the municipality. The wavy division lines symbolise the stream that separated the two areas. The lower half symbolises the court of Gallscheid to which the municipality historically belonged.
