Wappen von Herten (Recklinghausen)/Arms (crest) of Herten (Recklinghausen)

The arms are based on the arms of the Lords of Herten. The family is first mentioned in the 13th century and around their estate a village developed. In the middle of the 19th century the village started to grow rapidly due to industrialisation.
