HOFHEIM AM TAUNUS

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Main-Taunus Kreis
Additions : 1938 Marxheim; 1972 Diedenbergen, Langenhain, Lorsbach; 1977 Wallau, Wildsachsen

Wappen von Hofheim am Taunus

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are granted on March 11, 1920, but used since 1909.

The arms are based on the oldest seals of the city, known since 1352. The upper part shows St. Peter, the patron saint of the city. The city was granted city rights in 1352. At the time the city was ruled by the archbishops of Mainz (wheel) and the Counts of Nassau (lion).

In 1909 the city based the arms on the oldest seal, but from 1816-1907 the city used a silver shield with a red rooster as arms, see below. These arms were supposedly the real arms of the city, but which were not used on seals.
