Origin/meaning

These arms were officially granted on 7th June 1989.

Hostalric is a picturesque little town that keeps in large measure the fortified enclosure, with walls and towers. The arms show traditionally (at least from 1590 to 1800) a star and the local castle, placed on a hill, built in the 14^th century by Bernat de Cabrera, that became the centre of the viscounty of Cabrera. At the top of the arms we can see also the viscount's crown.
