JENA (J)

State : Thüringen
Incorporated into : 1994 Saale-Holzland Kreis

Wappen von Jena (kreis)/Arms (crest) of Jena (kreis)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 19, 1991.

The small shield shows the arms of the Counts of Orlamünde, as a large part of the district historically belonged to that county. The castle is the Leuchtenberg, the most impressive castle in the district. The two black pine trees represent the many forests in the region, whereas the blue wavy bar refers to the Saale.
