JOKIOINEN
Region : Kanta-Häme
Former province : 1997-2009 Etelä-Suomi (until 1997 Häme)
Official blazon
Punaisessa kentässä aaltokoroinen hirsi, jonka yläpuolella kaksi vehnäntähkää ristissä ja alapuolella alasin; kaikki kultaa.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 21, 1951.
The arms show in the upper part two wheat stalks, symbolising the fact that the local estate has played a mayor rol ein optimizing agriculture in Finland. The wavy bar is a canting element (joki is river). The base shows an anvil as a symbol for the metal industry in the town.
The first arms were proposed in 1946 and only showed the local church, these were not officially granted.
