Incorporated into : 2008 Bautzen

Wappen von Kamenz (kreis)/Arms (crest) of Kamenz (kreis)
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on February 16, 1998.

The colours are these of the Oberlausitz region. The linden leave is a symbol for the slavonic Minority (Sorben, also known as Wenden) in the district. The three rings united in one figure are taken from the Lessing´s Poem "Nathan der Weise" and are allusion of the Union and Equality of three former territorial units (districts Dresden, Kamenz and Hoyerswerda) and also the symbol of tolerance.

The wavy bar symbolises the rivers Roeder, Elster and Spree. The black wing is derived from the arms of Lords von Kamenz.
