Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on July 10, 1961.

The arms show in the upper part the arms of Nassau, as the largest part of the district historically belonged to Nassau-Weilburg. The lower part shows the wheel taken from the arms of the Lords of Bolanden, the oldest noble family in the area, as well as the horse shoes taken from the arms of Eisenberg city, one of the largest cities in the district. The escutcheon finally shows the arms of the city of Kirchheimbolanden.
