Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on October 28, 1959.

The arms of Kirrlach show a silver/black axeon a green field. The axe is taken from the only known seal of the village, which probably dates from the late 18th century. The meaning of the axe is not known, but most likely refers to the development of the village in the 13th century, when forests were cleared for the new settlement. In 1900 the State Archives of Baden proposed the use of the axe as arms for the village, but did not specify the colour. The municipality started to use the above colours, which, after some discussion in the 1950s, were finally officially granted in 1959.
