State : Steiermark
District : Murau
Additions : 2015 Krakaudorf, Krakauhintermühlen, Krakauschatten
Official blazon
In blauem Schild über grünem, mit drei silbernen achtblättrigen und golden besamten Blüten belegtem Schildfuß ein silberner dreispitziger Berg mit erhöhter Mittelspitze, belegt mit einer schwarzen Krähe.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on July 15, 2016.
The Krakau is a valley in the mountains of Upper Styria, near the state border to Salzburg. The Styrian Krakau valley does not have anything in common with the great Polish city of Cracow/Krakau. The name means "Krähengegend" (crows' land). All three former municipalites in the Krakau have had crows included in their arms as a canting reference.
The ccrow is placed in front of the majestic mountains of the area and the three former municipalities are symbolised as three small flowers ofn the meadows.
