KRIFTEL

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Main-Taunus Kreis

Wappen von Kriftel/Arms (crest) of Kriftel
Official blazon
German Im geteilten Schild oben ein blauer Wellenbalken in Gold, unten ein silbernes rad in Rot.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 2, 1951.

The lower half shows the wheel of the State of Mainz, to which the area belonged until 1803. The wheel already appeared together with a cauldron, the symbol of the local patron saint, St. Vitus, on the local seal from 1720.

The upper half shows a wavy bar, symbolising the Kriftel river, after which the municipality is named. The blue and gold colours of the upper half are the colours of Nassau, to which the village belonged from 1803-1866.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
