Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted on January 1, 2009.
The current arms use the main tinctures of both Kurikka and Jurva as well as the flag of Finland (Azure and Argent). The dovetailed division refers to the dovetail joint, used in carpentry, which both municipalities are famous for: Kurikka for their wagons and Jurva for their furniture. It can also be interpreted as a symbol of the merger of the two former municipalities and their tight connection.
The previous arms were granted on September 14, 1951.
The upper half shows a moose head, derived from a local legend in which moose hunters played a major role. The lower half shows two warrior clubs, a canting symbol (kurikka=club).
