Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 15, 1955.

The arms are based on the seal of the court of Lövenich from the 16^th century. The lion is the lion of the Counts of <a href=j/julich|Jülich]] as the area historically belonged to the County Jülich. The three hops flowers symbolise the former importance of the culture of hops in the area.
