Escudo de La Roca del Vallès/Arms (crest) of La Roca del Vallès
Official blazon
Catalan Escut de la Roca del Vallès. Escut caironat: de sinople, un roc d'or acompanyat de tres creus gregues patents d'or malordenades, el peu d'or, 4 pals de gules. Per timbre una corona de baró.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

These arms have been officially granted on 17th May 2001.

These arms are canting: they show a "roc" (Catalan for chess-rook). The three crosses are a traditional sign of the arms of the village. The local castle has been the centre of the barony of La Roca since 1468 (you can see the baron's crown at the top of the arms). The royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four pales Gules on Or) at the base are the arms of the House of Barcelona, and remind that La Roca was given the privilege of being "street of Barcelona".
