Official blazon

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a shield-shaped embroidered device blazoned: “Quarterly Azure and Argent, a chevalier traversed, armed and carrying in dexter hand a tilting lance bendwise sinister, upon a horse forcene and barded Silver Gray. All within a diminished border Or”. Attached above the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed “LANCERS” in White letters, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Yellow border. Overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in width to include a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Yellow over edge border.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: On a Silver colored metal and enamel shield-shaped device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height consisting of a shield blazoned: “Azure, a chevalier traversed, armed and carrying in dexter hand a tilting lance bendwise sinister, upon a horse forcene and barded Argent”. Attached above the shield a White scroll inscribed “LANCERS” in Silver letters and edged with a Silver border.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: The Lancer, a medieval mounted knight on a horse with a lance, traditionally represents the spirit guiding the body, and the lance represents strength and wisdom piercing ignorance.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: The Lancer, a medieval mounted knight on a horse with a lance, traditionally represents the spirit guiding the body, and the lance represents strength and wisdom piercing ignorance. The school colors are blue and white.

The Shoulder Sleeve insignia was approved on 22 May 2002. The shoulder loop insignia was approved on 5 November 2002.
