LES AVELLANES I SANTA LINYA

Region : Catalonia
Province : Lleida

Escudo de Les Avellanes i Santa Linya/Arms (crest) of Les Avellanes i Santa Linya
Official blazon
Catalan Escut caironat truncat: 1r. d'argent, una avellaner de sinople; 2n. de sinople, una creu grega bordonada d'argent. Per timbre una corona mural de poble.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 24, 1999.

The arms are canting: "les avellanes" in Catalan mean literally "the hazelnuts", and they contain in fact a fruited hazelnut tree. In 1970 the village of Santa Linya (symbolized here by a round-ended cross) joined this municipality.
