Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1948.

The urn in the center of the shield indicates the pre-historic settlements in the area. The upper bar symbolises the Mittellandkanal (canal), and the lower silver line the Leine river. Both the canal and the river have played an important role in the development of the town. The green colour of the shield symbolises the (historical) agricultural character of the village.
