LINDHEIM
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Wetteraukreis (until 1975 Büdingen)
Incorporated into : 1972 Altenstadt (Hessen)
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
Lindberg became a city before 1342. Whether it already used a seal or arms at that time is unknown. The first known use of a seal dates from 1415, but its image is lost. In the 16th century a new seal was made, which shows the same image as on the present arms. Also a stone on the city hall from 1669 shows the same image as arms.
The origin of the arms is not known; the gate obviously indicates the fact that Lindheim is a city, the tree may be and older symbol.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
