According to the legend on location of Lipnica old king Wladyslaw Lokietek went hunting in a forest with his son Kazimierz. The old king chased an animal with a spear and dissapeared in the forest. He got tired and felt asleep under a lime tree. When his people found him he thrust his sword into the tree and said to his son - "We shall set a new town here and we shall call it LIPNICA". So the coat of arms shows a linden tree (linden tree = Lipa in Polish) and the sword of King Wladyslaw Lokietek.
