Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 22, 2006.

The flaming sword is the symbol of St. Michael, the patron saint of the church of the village of Rüllschau in the municipality. The black base symbolises the peat mining during the centuries, which was done with trenches, resulting in terrace-like holes. The wheat-ears as well as the golden and green colours symbolise the (former) importance of agriculture in the municipality. The wagon wheel symbolises the Kerum pub, which was a meeting place for travellers and traders for centuries. Its activity was of great local importance during the centuries.
