Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a shield shaped embroidered device 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height by 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width blazoned: Gules, two bendlets Argent superimposed by the head and shoulders of a Patriot of the like and Azure and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Blue border. Attached above the shield a white scroll inscribed “MADISON” in blue letters and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Blue border.
Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Gules, two bendlets Argent (White) superimposed by the head and shoulders of a Patriot base metal and Azure. Attached below the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed “PATRIOTS” in Silver letters.

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Red, white, and blue are the school’s colors. The Patriot is the school’s mascot. The Patriot symbolizes the accomplishment, wisdom, dignity, and honor of the school’s students. The Patriot was chosen as the school’s mascot because Madison High School is located in Madison County, North Carolina. Madison County was named after James Madison, the fourth President of the United States of America. James Madison was a founding father and a Patriot. Patriots (also known as Americans, Whigs, Congress-Men or Rebels) were colonists of the British Thirteen Colonies who rebelled against the British control during the American Revolution and declared themselves an independent nation, the United States of America, in July 1776. The Patriot symbolizes accomplishment, wisdom, dignity, and honor of the school’s students. The diagonal bars represent the qualities of leadership and readiness for military duty.
