Province : Jawa Timur

Coat of arms (crest) of Madiun
Official blazon
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the old colonial arms, with additions of a wreath and some symbol (I have no idea what) in the base.

Colonial arms

The arms were officially granted on AOctober 13, 1931.

Origin/meaning

The arms show the two volcanoes Wilis and Lawu. The Madiun river is shown as a wavy bar. The green part symbolises the green fields in and near the city. The motto Montes prosperitatem vident (The mountains are witness to my prosperity) and the supporters were not taken in the new arms of the city.
