In Rot auf grünem Dreiberg eine grüne Birke, um deren Stamm ein goldener Zaun.

Origin/meaning

The oldest seal of the town dates from 1374. It shows a birch tree on a mountain, which makes it a canting composition; Maie is birch and Berg is mountain. The fence around the tree appeared in the early 18th century. In the 19th century the tree was changed into an apple, or linden tree, in the late 19th century the tree was restored as a birch tree.
