The arms are based on the only known seal of the village, known from 1851, but probably a bit older (now in the Šarišský Museum in Bardejov). A second seal was made in 1868 with the same design.

The seal probably shows the Archangel St. Michael, but not with a dragon, but with some small symbols, which have been identified as fire. St. Michael was the patron saint of the village at the end of the 18th century, when the Catholic Church was transferred to the Greek Orthodox Church. The current, new, Catholic church is devoted to St. Mary.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on May 22, 1999.

Mary.
