Escudo de Manresa/Arms (crest) of Manresa
Official blazon
Catalan Escut caironat truncat: 1r. d'or, 4 pals de gules; 2n. d'argent, un creu de Sant Jordi. Per timbre una corona mural de ciutat

Origin/meaning

On the first partition there are the royal arms of Catalonia-Aragon (four pales Gules on Or); Manresa has been under the royal jurisdiction since the conquest against the Muslims made by the count-king Guifré el Pelós in the 9th century. On the second partition, the arms show the cross of Saint George, the traditional and distinctive sign of the city.

These arms have been used, at least, since the 16th century.
