Official blason

  • (1948) I blått fält en stolpvis ställd kavle av guld, på vardera sidan åtföljd av två posthorn av guld över varandra.
  • (1971) I fält av guld en dansande blå trana med röd hjässa och däröver en blå ginstam belagd med två posthorn av guld.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1971.

The mail horns symbolises the importance of the place for postal services, while the crane (sw. trana) was a charge in the canting of former borough of Traryd.

The previous arms of Markaryd showed a pale flanked by four postal horns.

Markaryd kommunvapen

These arms were granted in 1948 and also refer to the postal services.
