MASIES DE VOLTREGÀ
Region : Catalonia
Province : Barcelona
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The ploughshare is the traditional sign of this village, mainly agricultural. The municipality was formed in 1820, when the peasants of this territory segregated themselves from Sant Hipòlit de Voltregà. The other elements in the arms, the mitre and the goat, refer to the ancient jurisdiction of the bishops of Vic and the viscounts of Cabrera (a "cabra" being a goat in Catalan).
