Origin/meaning

The upper part of the arms show a pangolin, an animal which could only be hunted by the kings of the Shona. The three golden hills represent the gold mining industry and the three towns of Mazoe, Concession and Glendale. The crest and base are canting, Mazoe is derived from Mazowe, or the river of the elephants.
