Wappen von Menzenschwand/Arms (crest) of Menzenschwand
Official blazon
German In Blau auf grünem Boden ein linksgewendeter, liegender silberner Hirsch.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1911.

The arms show a deer, derived from the old 19th century seal of the municipality. The deer is derived from the arms of the St. Blasien Abbey, to which the village for many centuries belonged. In 1910 the State Archives proposed arms for Menzenschwand with a wavy bar and two water-mill wheels. These arms symbolised the importance of the local water-mills for the economic development of the area. The local council, however, wanted to continue the deer.
