MITTELFRANKEN

State : Bayern

Mittelfranken.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the arms of the three former territories to which the area belonged. The eagle is the eagle of the city of <a href=n/nurnberg|Nürnberg]], the quartered shield is the arms of the Markgraves of Nürnberg-Ansbach from the house Hohenzollern, and the points are the arms of Franken.

The arms of the Kreis Mittelfranken, which existed until 1945 were quite similar:

These arms show the eagle of Nürnberg and the points of Franken.
